Finished Shawl

My evening shawl is finished, washed and blocked. It measures 17" x 66" without the fringes.
And I have started another shawl. I have a habit of starting new knitting project just before finishing the one I'm working on. So I have done quite a bit on this one. We are in Summer here in Perth, Australia, it is hot but I like to sit quietly and do hand-work night time instead of being noisy on my machine.

This shawl is call Icarus Shawl by Miriam Felton (on the cover of The Best of Interweave Knits). This is second time I'm knitting this shawl. I stick to the pattern on my first one and feel a bit small so I'm making this one a bit bigger. I'm using 2Ply 100% Merino Yarn with 2.75mm circular needles.

Finished Quilts

My On a Whim quilt is done. Not too happy with my FMQ skill on this one. I think I picked the wrong pattern for the quilt?? It did cross my mind to reverse-sew the stitching after going through 2 bobbins. But my little one looked at it and she said 'it looks good Mum' plus amount of sewing cotton it takes on 750QE Bernina bobbins (if you know what I mean :P) so decided to carry on with the FMQ.

So here it is, close up.

Love this backing fabric.

Scrappy Briar Rose

Now, I LOVVE this one. Love the scrappiness and very pleased with FMQ. It's not perfect, lots of room for improvement but turns out pretty good.

I found this pattern on Englandstreet Blog. The pattern is free, click here.

Flower petals are a bit wonky :P

Quilting stands out more on the back.
Linking up with finish it up Friday
Happy stitch/quilt/knit :)

Thursday was our last quilting day for the year at Foothill Learning Center in High Wycombe. We ended the year with Christmas Lunch.
